Celebrating the 10th year of the Great British Skinny Dip!

Summer’s on its way, bringing with it hundreds of opportunities to strip off our clothes and jump into a lake, river, pool or sea for the Great British Skinny Dip (GBSD).

And because this is the 10th year of the GBSD, let’s make it a grand one!

British Naturism has been approaching lots of potential new venues, which, alongside our established BN swims, has led to a GBSD calendar that’s positively teeming with dips, with more being added all the time. Check it out—there's a huge number of events around the country to choose from!

Naturist clubs have jumped at the chance to host GBSDs, and their many regular swims across the country are now listed on the GBSDcalendar. There are beach days and events being run by venues whose usual customers keep their swimsuits on. And let’s not forget the wild swimming groups, who are starting to see the benefits of doing what they do regularly, but naked.

Another highlight of this year’s calendar is the June 7 Great British ‘Synchronised’’ Skinny Dip which gives venues an easy option to select a date for their dip - we hope to see thousands of skinny dippers across the country that day!

It’s easier than ever to find events that are happening around you using our new ‘Events Near Me’ option. Click on the ‘Distance’ button at the top of the page, pop in a postcode and a radius and find all your local events - not just skinny dips.

These events give everyone the opportunity to join in the fabulous GBSD campaign and enjoy the healthy – and just plain fun! – experience of swimming au naturel. Reports from newcomers often include a regret that they’ve never done it before.

And while the number of GBSDs has mushroomed, we’re also getting more and more positive press coverage as journalists not only want to report on events, but often come along, undress and join in - and love it.

Bottom line: The Great British Skinny Dip has gone from strength to strength – and you can help ensure that trajectory continues! Take part in swims. Encourage your friends, family and colleagues to give cossie-free swimming a try. If you’re a member of a Naturist club that doesn’t host GBSDs, or the owner or operator of a swimming venues consider getting an event listed - it’s a great way to attract new people.

And since we’re always on the lookout for new venues – if you have a suggestion in mind, don’t be shy, let us know!
